Cookies,
On Your Terms.

What we store on your device, why, and how you stay in control.

Plain-language summary: Cookies and similar technologies are small pieces of information stored on your device. We use a few strictly necessary ones to make this site work and to remember your privacy choice. Anything beyond that — functional, analytics, or marketing — only runs if you say yes. You can accept all, reject all, or pick and choose, and you can change your mind at any time.
01

What Cookies Are

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies — such as local storage, pixels, and tags — do comparable things. Together they let a site remember information between visits or actions.

This policy uses “cookies” as shorthand for all of these technologies. It applies to the Adara marketing website at www.adaraapp.com. The Adara mobile app is covered separately in our Privacy Policy.

02

Your Consent & the Law

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR, we may store strictly necessary cookies without asking, but we must obtain your consent before setting any non-essential cookie. That consent must be freely given, specific, informed, and given by a clear affirmative action.

To honour this, our banner lets you Accept all, Reject all (just as easily), or Manage each category individually. Non-essential categories are switched off by default — nothing in them runs until you turn it on. We record your choice and the date you made it, and we ask again if this policy materially changes.

Changing your mind

You can review or withdraw consent at any time using the “Cookie settings” control at the bottom-left of every page, the footer link, or this button:

03

Categories We Use

We group cookies into four categories. You control the last three.

CategoryWhat it doesConsent
Strictly necessaryCore functionality: security headers, page routing, load balancing, and remembering your cookie choice so we don’t ask on every page.Always on (no consent required)
FunctionalRemembers preferences and interface state — for example, whether you’ve already seen our journal offer, so we don’t repeat it unnecessarily.Off until you opt in
AnalyticsAnonymous, aggregated statistics about how the site is used, so we can improve layout and content. No attempt to identify you personally.Off until you opt in
MarketingHelps us measure campaigns and, where enabled, show you relevant Adara content on other platforms.Off until you opt in
04

What We Actually Store Today

We keep our footprint deliberately light. At present the site stores the following first-party items in your browser’s local storage — no third-party advertising cookies are set:

NameCategoryPurposeDuration
adara_consentStrictly necessaryRecords your cookie choices and the date, so we honour them and don’t re-ask.12 months
adara_popup_stateFunctionalRemembers whether our journal offer has been shown, to avoid repeating it.Session / up to 24 hours
adara_subscribedFunctionalNotes that you’ve already joined, so we stop showing sign-up prompts.Persistent until cleared

If we later add analytics or marketing tools (for example, a privacy-friendly analytics provider), they will only load after you opt in to the relevant category, and this table will be updated first.

05

Third-Party Services

Some features rely on trusted third parties. Where these involve storage or data transfer, they are governed by their own policies:

  • Resend — delivers our emails and manages newsletter subscriptions when you sign up. Your name and email are shared to send you the journal and future letters.
  • Google (Apps Script / Sheets) — securely records newsletter sign-ups so we can manage our subscriber list.
  • Google Fonts — serves the typefaces used across the site.
  • Apple TestFlight — hosts the Adara beta; visiting a TestFlight link is subject to Apple’s privacy terms.

We never sell your personal information. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle the data you provide.

06

Controlling Cookies in Your Browser

Beyond our on-site controls, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and local storage:

  • Safari — Settings › Safari › Privacy & Security.
  • Chrome — Settings › Privacy and security › Cookies and other site data.
  • Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security.
  • Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions.

Blocking strictly necessary items may stop parts of the site from working as intended.

07

Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control

Because we set no non-essential cookies without consent, we already meet the intent of “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals by default. Your explicit choices in our preferences panel always take precedence.

08

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect new tools, legal changes, or operational needs. When we make material changes to how we use cookies, we will refresh the banner and ask for your consent again. The “Last Updated” date above always reflects the current version.
